What is the Volunteer Reception Center?
The Volunteer Reception Center (VRC) efficiently transforms spontaneous volunteers into a screened workforce. In a disaster, trained volunteers help screen and organize spontaneous, untrained volunteers for recovery efforts. By preparing for disasters likely to occur, United Way is dedicated to strengthening community resilience and reducing the impact of these events on our most vulnerable community members.
Before activation, trained volunteers must be ready to staff the VRC. Training sessions are held twice a year, and only trained volunteers can staff the VRC.
How to Get Involved
There will not be a fall VRC refresher training. The next VRC training will be held in late April 2027!
The VRC is coordinated by United Way of South Wood & Adams Counties in collaboration with Wood County Emergency Management.
