United Way of South Wood & Adams Counties Generates Over 6,000 Pounds of Food Donations for Local Programs

This year’s United We Can food sculpture competition brought in 6,347 pounds of food donations and $611.59 to support local food programs. Since 2013, this annual event has leveraged a total of 78,843 pounds of food to help community members facing hunger. All donations went directly to five local food programs: FOCUS Food Pantry, FOCUS Neighborhood Meals, FOCUS Family Backpacks, the Family Center, and the Adams Food Pantry.

United We Can is possible thanks to the 91 volunteers who built sculptures, collected donations, helped before the game, during the game and to distribute the thousands of pounds of food to local programs. Seven teams competed in this year’s event: Domtar, ERCO Worldwide, Grace Lutheran Church, Nekoosa Coated Products, ODC, Solarus, and WestRock. A team from McMillan Memorial Library also created an impromptu sculpture with food donated the day of the event.

Winners of this year’s competition are:

  • Most Nutritious – ERCO Worldwide
  • Most Creative – Domtar
  • Community Choice, Major League – Domtar
  • Community Choice, Minor League – Grace Lutheran Church
