WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI – United Way of South Wood and Adams Counties held a diaper drive between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day that collected 30,100 items for families in need! This is an increase of 36% over last year’s drive.
“According to ALICE data, 26% of Wood County and 31% of Adams County families with children struggle to make ends meet. The diaper drive helps those who need the most support,” said Tari Jahns, United Way of South Wood & Adams Counties CEO. “We are uniquely positioned to recognize and address the greatest needs in our community and this is a wonderful example of people coming together to make a huge impact.”
Diapers, wipes, creams, and monetary donations were donated by community members. Local partners, Juneau-Adams WIC, First Choice Pregnancy Resource Center, FOCUS of SWC, Hannah Center, and Wisconsin Rapids Family Center, will get these supplies directly to families in south Wood and Adams Counties.
“We are so blessed to receive all these diapers. Our Caring Closet has benefited many families in the area through distributing diapers. This came at the perfect time as our shelves were getting bare, and now we are able to help even more families not have to go without,” said Tori Spice, Center Director of Hannah Center Wisconsin Rapids.
