Food Pantries

FOCUS Food Pantry

Located at 2321 W. Grand Avenue, Wisconsin Rapids. Provides food for those in need in south Wood County.  Individuals will receive a seven day food and hygiene (if available) supply packed by volunteers. Screening held on location during the operation hours of Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 12:00-4:00pm and Tuesday from 4:00-7:00pm. Mobile Food Pantry

In the event a mobile food pantry is scheduled, eligible households can register online at the FOCUS website (www.focusofswc.org/) or call 715-422-2050 between 8:30-11:30am.

Ruby’s Pantry

No qualifications to participate; $25 donation to cover cost of transportation. Held the third Saturday of every month from 8:00-9:30am at the Pitsch School, 501 17th Street South, Wisconsin Rapids. Email mmertens@immanuelrapids.com for more info.  Visit their website.

Community Meal Sites

FOCUS Neighborhood Meals

Serves free meals every Thursday from 4:15-6:00pm at FOCUS, 2321 W. Grand Ave, Wisconsin Rapids. No screening process or qualifications needed in order to participate.  Visit their website.

Aging Disability Resource Center Senior Dining

Anyone age 60 or older, or their spouse, is eligible. Meal reservations should be made by noon one day in advance. Monetary donations encouraged and eligible persons who qualify will not be denied services if  unable to contribute. Located at 220 3rd Avenue South, Wisconsin Rapids. Free or Reduced Lunch Programs  

Provides free and reduced price lunches to families that meet income eligibility guidelines. Register through your school district.

Summer Food Service Program (USDA)

Provides nutritious meals to children during the summer when free or reduced-price school meals are typically unavailable. Free meals will be made available to ALL children 18 years of age or younger. Various locations available. Call 2-1-1 for details.

 

Backpack Programs

FOCUS Family Backpacks

Provides nutritious foods needed to make a family meal along with an easy-to-follow recipe.  Program is provided to select schools in Wisconsin Rapids for the school year beginning in October. Contact the school’s social worker or counselor for more information or to request a backpack.  Visit our website.

The Backpack for Kids Program

Provides backpacks full of food for the weekend for Nekoosa School District families. There is enough food for two dinners, two breakfasts, and nutritional snacks. In addition, a $20.00 voucher to the Piggly Wiggly in Nekoosa is included. A letter is sent to families in regards to the program and what it entails.

 

Delivered Meals

Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC) Meals on Wheels

Eligibility includes being 60 or older, mostly homebound, and unable to prepare balanced meals. The spouse of an eligible person may participate also. For more information, call 715-421-0014 or 888-486-9545.  Visit their website. 

Aspirus Riverview Hospital Home Delivered Meals

The Family Center

Provides emergency food assistance to victims and their families of domestic violence and sexual assault. Located at 500 25th Street N., Wisconsin Rapids. A 24-hour phone line is also available at 715-421-1511.  Visit their website.

Stockbox Program

Provides free, supplemental food to qualifying seniors. Stockboxes contain 25-30lbs of nutritious, non-perishable food items. Must be age 60 or older with monthly income below $1,473 to qualify. Accessible once per month during distribution events; must be pre-registered to participate. To register, call 2-1-1 or register online.

Government Assistance

FoodShare

Provides monthly financial support for low-income families and individuals to buy nutritious foods. To check eligibility or apply for benefits:  call the Northern Income Maintenance Consortium at 1-888-794-5722. Visit their website.

Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC)
